  1. We have 4 children in the Oxford school system and are very proud to call this our home. I'm excited to see what the future holds for Oxford! I would most like to see the addition of activities geared towards families/ youth. Baseball fields & playgrounds are great. But.... my children do not play baseball and are too old for playgrounds. (We are heavily involved in Boy & Girl Scouting and OMS/ Varsity Wrestling.) I think our town and families would greatly benefit from facilities such as... an ice skating rink, botanical garden, skate park or aquarium. We would absolutely LOVE a top notch aquatic center!

  2. Valerie,
I do agree with your thoughts. All of these ideas would be great. I also feel we need more for our teens in the area to do. Nice "clean" Bowling Center. (Brunswick Zone) or other activities that would cater to them and keep them safe.

  4. There absolutely needs to be an outlet for young people in our town. Especially older teens...they tend to just drive from parking lot to parking lot. This entails nothing but trouble for business owners and for the young people themselves. A skate park would be a wonderful addition to our city. I recently visited Kennessaw, Georgia, and they had a wonderful skate park and it was brimming with all ages of children. Also, when I was an older teenager, there was a game room/dance club in Oxford where I spent my weekend nights and I never got into any trouble. I agree that a bowling center would be an excellent addition, as well. Great ideas!

  6. I agree with the idea of a top notch aquatic center. The Oxford Marlins swim team just visited Opelika. Their facility is awesome! What a benefit it would be to our youth to be able to swim year round. Also, a climbing gym like High Point in Chattanooga would be another multigenerational outlet. Chad Prince

  7. I agree we need something for our young people. My daughter is 16 and other than a movie there is little for them to do that spell trouble.
